The Future Tense in association with Opera Gallery is pleased to present Wonderful World – the concluding act in Gérard Rancinan and Caroline Gaudriault’s Trilogy of the Moderns.
Situated somewhere between comedy and tragedy, this vivid photographic tableau and accompanying texts paint a picture of a confused humanity, groping blindly in the darkness, obsessed with the cult of celebrity and guided only by an absolute desire for generalised, prescribed happiness.
Fresh from La Triennale di Milano, which saw over 10,000 visitors in the first two weeks, Rancinan brings this revolution in three acts to a close, with The Future Tense bringing the complete Wonderful World series to the UK public for the first time.
The exhibition will also offer attendees a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become part of art history by participating in the final Wonderful World portrait, which will be cast, styled and shot in full public view at the Londonewcastle Project Space.
To celebrate the completion of Trilogy of the Moderns, The Future Tense will publish a new print edition by Gérard Rancinan. Limited to a signed edition of 20 + 4 Artist Proofs, the work will be available only to those attending the show in person. A pop-up store will also sell related merchandise including the supporting books.
Wonderful World is kindly supported by Londonewcastle, Courvoisier and Peroni Nastro Azzurro.back to exhibitions
