Joseph Loughborough: The Enemy is the first print edition produced by The Future Tense with Joseph Loughborough, and is based upon the original drawing of the same name exhibited as part of The Future Tense launch exhibition.
The human skull is hugely symbolic throughout art history – a stark reminder of our mortality, a recurrent theme in the work of the artist, who cites Egon Schiele, Frank Auerbach, Käthe Kollwitz and Alberto Giacometti amongst his influences.
Measuring 100 x 70cm, the print uses a traditional Polymer Gravure etching process to authentically reproduce the complex tones found in his charcoal work.
The Enemy was printed with Pete Kosowicz of Thumbprint Editions – famous for their work with artists such as Damien Hirst, Anish Kapoor, Ian Davenport and Tracey Emin.back to editions
